In the former, the mind sits above Scripture—even if in admiration of it. In the latter, the mind submits to Scripture to be governed, shaped, and trained by it. In the former, the mind is judge over Scripture. In the latter, the Scripture is judge over the mind. Only when we yield our minds to the authority of God-breathed Scripture will we find the first supply needed in the discipline of our minds for the sake of loving God.
